sat 1 Jan 12, 2002- RAG MAMA RAG

Ashley (ex Bose Brothers) and Debbie are one of Europe’s finest Country Blues acts, with a repertoire of 20’s and 30’s blues and outstanding guitar picking (lap steel and bottleneck guitar) and blues harmonica. Enjoying huge success, the duo has made several appearances on Paul Jones’ blues programmes and has a huge fan following.

support: The Waikiki Brothers - Hawaiian style shenanigans with Lap Steel & Uke!

sat Feb 16 - JENNY COOK & HENRY SEARS

Jenny plays Irish Harp & had a remarkable voice, Henry used to provide fiddle for After Hours. Together they provide a fabulous evening's entertainment & a new spin on old themes.

sat March 23 - DEMBO KONTE & KAUSU KUYATEH

You will be astounded by the complexity, subtlety & emotion evoked in the interplay of these 2 Guinean master Kora players. The multi stringed Koras are played in a tuning known as Tomora Ba which has a sound reminiscent of a minor blues but with a distinctly African voice.

support: Big Hands - inspired percussive due of 'Bodie' & Keith Bleasby

Americana Double Bill !!

sat 13 April, 2002 - THE ARLENES

The royal family of British Americana, gaining new popularity & the support of one Jonathan Ross.

"The Arlenes are a husband and wife duo (Big Steve & Stephanie Arlene). Gorgeous sunset harmonies, hazy pedal steel and stories of love, loss and longing... this is new country. Same as the old country. And it sounds sublime." - NME

support: Bob Collum

Tulsan born Bob Collum sings in a distinctly American tenor with sufficient rough edges for an endearingly organic feel & just a hint of Roland Gift in the occasional wavering decay. His songs deal with the rollercoaster of emotions, flawed or lost loves. Read the NetRhythms review here

Americana Double Bill

sat 11 May, 2002 - MARY GAUTHIER

"Lord knows how many dead dogs she's had, but at a glance, Mary Gauthier's background qualifies her for country diva status, if the smoky, been-there voice and credible songs (accompanied by acoustic guitar and skilful session band including cowboy male choir) already didn't. Her second album deserves the accolades her US debut received. Memorable and engaging." MOJO - Americana Album of the Month - July 2001
